Together, we’re Family!
AWON is a proud and family-oriented, national 501(c)3
. . . founded in 1991 by Ann Bennett Mix for the purpose of finding and bringing together the sons and daughters
and families of the men and women lost in World War II. We’ve just turned thirty!
Why are we here?
We’re here to find the nearly 183,000 of us who lost a parent to World War II. Then, in a collaboration with our Members, we help them locate key information about their Fathers (or other loved ones) regarding their military service. Then, in ongoing collaborations, we help, facilitate, and encourage them in finding ways to honor and remember their Fathers.
Thanks to articles about AWON in the Reader’s Digest, Newsweek, and Today, along with several ABC, NBC, and PBS stories, both national and local – AWON has started to draw attention from the “still lost” sons and daughters of the men and women who did the heavy lifting – and were killed or lost in World War II.
